Tosoh Hellas - 50 years together!
Half a century of business consistency, pioneering and innovation are completed this year for Tosoh Hellas Single Member SA. Being now one of the major chemical industries in Europe with a purely export orientation, and the largest Japanese capital company in Greece.
Its course began in 1973 as Tekkosha Hellas, with its establishment by the Japanese Tekkosha and Mitsubishi Corporation. Its headquarters, in Sindos Industrial Area in Thessaloniki, with the exclusive production of Electrolytic Manganese Dioxide (commercially known as E.M.D.), a specialized chemical product that is the main component of dry batteries. Since 1987 it has been renamed and carries the brand name of the Japanese group Tosoh Corporation, one of the world's most recognized producers and suppliers of inorganic chemicals, petrochemicals and specialty materials, with over 100 companies and 14,000 employees worldwide. In 2021 the Tosoh Corporation group is its sole shareholder.
Today, Tosoh Hellas occupies a leading position in the field of E.M.D. production. and is a strategic supplier of the most well-known battery manufacturing groups. It is a member of the International Manganese Institute (IMnI), has participated since 1995 in the international initiative for sustainable economy and sustainability Responsible Care, and is a founding member of the Association of Greek Chemical Industries.
Its constant commitment to innovation and development, always respecting the environment and people, is proven in practice: Equipment investments exceeding 40 million euros, annual costs for upgrading the production unit and anti-pollution equipment reaching 1 million euros, as well as investments of 20 million euros every year in the local market, significantly stimulating the economy of Northern Greece. In addition, it is certified according to ISO 9001 (Quality Management System), ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System) and ISO 50001 (Energy Management System).

WHO WE ARE
With its headquarters in the Sindos Industrial Area of Thessaloniki, Tosoh Hellas, a member of the Tosoh Group, was founded in 1973 and has been active since 1976 in the production of electrolytic manganese dioxide (commercial known as EMD), an essential key component for the production of dry cells (commonly known as batteries).
